Goodman Simulation Center in the Department of Surgery

Goodman Center

The Department of Surgery is very rich in original research by world-class leaders in surgical techniques.

The research activities in the Goodman Simulation Center focus on specific areas in all the major topics in medical education.  Projects past and ongoing at the GSC include: curriculum development, blended learning, faculty development, feedback, learner assessment, program evaluation, inter-professional education, simulation and educational tool validity, clinical decision making, emotional intelligence in the assessment of applicants in surgery, trends in resident evaluation, and warm-up in surgery.

A monthly research meeting with the director, the fellows, Dr. Claudia Mueller (Pediatric Surgeon and PhD in Psychology), and Doug Morrison (Statistician) are held in order to hold our works of scholarship to a lens of scientific rigor.
